Rethink Your Period
Is there a cheaper better alternative to pads and tampons? Hell yes! Would you like to spend WAY less on your period? Would you like to decrease your exposure to toxic chemicals? Would you like to help the environment? I know you are thinking that its way too good to be true but it actually is! There is an alternative. It’s called the Diva Cup.
How much do you spend on your period? Well, the average woman spends about $120 per year on pads and tampons according to the Huffington Post. Guess how much I spend? $29.99 on my one Diva Cup.…. WHAT! I have an extra $90 bucks per year now! It’s awesome.
Also, there are toxic chemicals in pads and tampons. Dr. Joseph Mercola investigated and he found that tampons and pads, “may contain toxic disinfection byproducts from the chlorine bleaching process, including dioxins and furans, as well as pesticides from non-organic, often genetically modified (GM) cotton.” The Diva Cup is made of non-absorbent silicone and it is very rare that someone is allergic to silicone. Please see this link if you are worried about allergies.
Lastly, using the Diva Cup is helping the environment. It could take years for a tampon or pad to degrade in a landfill and an average woman uses 11,000 tampons in her life time! That’s crazy, isn’t it? If I have my period until I am 50, that is only 27 Diva Cups. So yes! That is way less.
I hoped I have convinced you to rethink your period. After giving you all the pros, I think it is important to mention that you may need to buy a few different types and sizes before you will find the best fit. Plus that fit can change over time. But the environmental and economic impact of switching to menstrual cups is enormous. Here is a video you can watch about the Diva Cup. So long ladies!
