Stone Harbor: The Perfect Beach Day Trip

Looking for a nice final getaway this Labor Day weekend? Thinking one last beach trip of the summer is exactly what you need? Well do I have a little secret to share with you! Look no further than New Jersey's own Stone Harbor! Okay so Stone Harbor isn't really a secret, but it sure has a great beach, fun shops, and exciting events going on! Check it out!

Stone Harbor Beach

Morgan and I decided to plan a day trip to Stone Harbor and I am so glad we did. Nothing is better than a little R & R by the beach. At Stone Harbor you can choose to go to the Bay side or the ocean side, or heck you can do both! There is no better feeling than having the wind in your hair and sand between your toes after an exhausting week of work. Am I right?

First things first, Stone Harbor is an hour and a half drive so make sure you pack snacks and are prepared to make at least one bathroom break! There are plenty of Wawa's on the way to help you with that!

I find it easier to make a list of things to pack for your trip just so you don't forget anything! Here is what I tend to bring!

Julee's Beach Trip List

- 2 towels (1 for drying yourself and one extra just in case you go in and out of the water a few times).

-a book/ magazine to read under the sun

-bathing suit cover up ( I pack an extra just in case)

-flip flops/ sandels

- headphones if you like to listen to music

- a blanket to lay on (I find blankets are better and bigger than a towel)

-sunglasses

-hat (optional)

-SUNSCREEN!!!!

-lots of WATER (pack a cooler full)

- beach snacks (tortilla chips, nuts, sandwich if you know your going to be hungry)

-beach games (if your into that)

- beach chair or umbrella (if you have one but not necessary)

Okay got of all that? Now you're ready to go to Stone Harbor!

Food wise, Stone Harbor is such a cute town! The main street has tons of options, so try not to get overwhelmed!

Here are a few spots on our list that we did not get to try!

The place we chose to eat was called, The Watering Hull!

We didn't want to go somewhere too fancy since we still had our bathing suits and cover ups on! The Watering Hull was the perfect blend of beach casual that we were looking for!

Make sure to keep a look out since the restaurant is kind of tucked away and up on the second floor! Located on 96th Street across from the water tower, if you can find the cross walk with the big STONE HARBOR arch sign, walk right under that and The Watering Hull is right in front of you! Directions HERE!

With an outside seating option, a pool table, two bars, a giant tv, a nice happy hour, and countless nights of live entertainment, you really can't go wrong with The Watering Hull.

Check out the menu and what Morgan and I ate at The Watering Hull!

I'm originally from New Jersey, so going to the beach means two things to me:

1) Beach

Guess what? There is one within walking distance to The Watering Hull right on 96th Street! Directions HERE!

A regular cone, fancy cone, or cup Kohr Bros will not disappoint! Trust me if there is one thing I know it's desserts! Do yourself a favor and try the Chocolate & Peanut Butter Twist (a favorite of mine and my siblings) or the Vanilla and Orange Twist (my parents favorite). Both combinations go perfect with the chocolate dip or rainbow sprinkles! The Kohr Bros recipe is meant to be eaten at the beach. They use eggs in their recipe which makes the product a custard not ice cream. The salt air does not make the custard melt as fast, which allows you more time to savor the flavor! So do yourself a favor and stop a Kohr Bros!

So with the nice holiday weekend coming up, take a day and 'treat yo' self' to Stone Harbor!
